Can you align training to our asset classes and procedures?

Its what we do.

While the fundamental outcomes and course structure stay the same we will integrate any specifics of your fleet. For example, ECP locomotive fault finding will work with your particular locomotives schematics.

How does your training work?

We will provide a course program plan and detailed learning outcomes that are fully competency assessed. When satisfied with the program, and dates and courses are established, we will provide a quote.

It is not unusual for last minute changes or rostering issues to arise and we will always strive to work around these.

How much does it cost?

We are substantially lower cost than RTO's and OEM's as we do not have the large overheads and our costs are not subject to mark ups. You get a professionally developed course run by a highly experienced trainer with both technical and diploma level training qualifications. Lowest cost - highest quality.

Is the training job ready or mostly theory?

There is a balance between the theory and practical components. Courses are designed for knowledge and understanding first then applying this to your rolling stock.

The end result is very much focused on a job ready trainee.

Is there any benefit to using a non-RTO training organisation?

While all courses follow the quality requirements for courses laid out by the Australian Qualification Framework, to write and train in the subjects we offer as an RTO, would require considerable cost for little benefit - even if the RTO had the levels of expertise and experience necessary to put them together.

An RTO would have to follow the TLI29921 Certificate II in Rolling Stock Maintenance that, while specifying generic maintenance modules, does not go into the specifics of maintenance activities or how items work, are maintained and fault diagnosed. Our training however is assessed to the same standards and and can be used as part of a Recognition of Prior Learning application.

What is different between your course and OEM courses?

The OEM courses for ECP are good but narrow in their application and are principally concerned with testing.

Our courses, while covering the 'what', provides the 'why' and 'how' with an end focus on effective fault identification, reliability and cost effective maintenance.

Our courses will also be tailored to work within your existing processes and procedures, or with our well-developed processes that streamline testing time as opposed to the rather clunky OEM testing manual.

What kind of qualification does a trainee get?

A certificate of completion of the course is issued.

This will contain the learning outcomes and assessment to competency based training and assessment standards.

This can be used if required for a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for that subject where they may line up with a Nationally Recognised Training modules for a course.

How flexible can you be with course content and instruction?

Making changes to a set course to suit a client's individual needs is generally not a problem.

The trainer is the subject matter expert and the course developer and can adjust the training as necessary. We can also custom-develop courses for your trainers.

How do you cater for different skill and experience levels?

Each course starts with a short structured discussion that gives the trainer an idea of the experience and skill level of the participants. This will be used to modify each course to support those less experienced whilst challenging those with more expertise within a team training environment.

There are some qualification levels that apply for example, statutory requirements such as a qualified electrician conducting HiPot testing on cables.

Our courses are designed and presented to be interactive and inclusive. In a team environment the more experienced trainee can often help coach the less experienced individuals whilst learning themselves.

What do you need to run a course on site?

The course requirements will be detailed in the course plan. Usually a training room with basic projection equipment and a white board is sufficient.

Site training requires the equipment set up in a protected area.

What business outcomes should the training provide?

Our courses are based on reliability centered maintenance principals. Safety, reliability and cost effectiveness are an integral part of our training.

We teach structured diagnostic approaches, provide detailed fault recognition and efficient and effective testing and inspection processes.

A safer, more reliable train, less inspection and repair time and recognition of developing faults that are fixed in the shop and not on a train is the end result.
